The Traitors is a reality competition show set in a secluded castle, where a group of contestants completes missions to add money to a communal prize pot and to recieve personal shields, protecting them from murder. Among the contestants, some are secretly chosen as "Traitors," whose goal is to eliminate the other players—known as "Faithfuls"—without being discovered. The game typically starts with 3-4 traitors, and around 20 faithfuls. The traitors gather in a secret location every night and decide which of the faithfuls to murder. Each episode includes a group discussion and a vote to banish a suspected Traitor. Once eliminated, players disclose their true identity. If all Traitors are eliminated by the end, the remaining Faithfuls win the prize; if any Traitors survive, they win. If a traitor is eliminated, the remaining traitors may forego a killing to instead recruit another traitor amongst the faithful. The traitors lose the abillity to recruit or kill once there are only 5 players remaining - the game ends when at most 4 players remain, although the four can continue voting players out until 2 remain.
